Portraits

So these are of my dad and my sister, at my dads house. My family is really weird, so these pictures only captures some of that. I took these pictures to show the freakiness of my family, and how much they mean to me because they make me laugh when I'm at the lowest.

Self-Portraits

Multiple Exposure:
These kind of show how into nature and animals I am. (Hence the leaves and the koala) Plus, I believe I was meant to be a koala, so...
It's showing my inner-self c:

Black and White:
For me, black and white is kind of a comfort zone with taking pictures of myself. It's simple, but yet complicated.
The first picture shows I basically bring my camera anywhere, I love to travel, and I often take a lot of pictures of what I see and discover.
The second one shows how at times, I think I'm in control, but have to realize there's a bigger subject and I need to tone it down a bit. Plus, I spend most of my time drinking tea. :3
The third one is me peering behind a lava lamp. It kind of shows innocence and curiosity in my eyes, which is it, because I can be very childish,

Sabattier:
I just liked how these ones looked.
The only new one is the one of me and my boyfriend, it kind shows how our relationship is, really weird but kinda cute, and in sabattier-creepy.

What is beautiful in photography?

Beauty in photography when you can capture something that makes people think "Wow, maybe life isn't as crappy as we all claim it to be." It's when you capture something that you can just feel the emotion oozing out. Or something that brings tears to your eyes. Something that makes you think or makes you have an overfill of emotions that you don't know what to do with. It's capturing something that normally we don't notice, or is a once-in-a-lifetime photograph.
Something can be "ugly" but also be beautfiul. Like I said, it can be something just so completely emotional that it can be really ugly, but just the concept is beautiful.

My example of the concept of having something emotional is this:

Something beautiful that makes you make weird noises to yourself when you see them out of cuteness is this.
It also kind shows the beauty between a father and child:

And then there's the normal beautiful pictures of trees and cities at night that make you feel good but are not as impacting as the others.

Macro Photos

Web assignment #4

Alfred Stieglitz

File:Alfred Stieglitz self-portrait, freienwald, 1886.jpg

Alfred Stieglitz was an American photographer, who was known for his photographs that showed emotion.

I like this photograph because it kind of seems to mean something more than just a picture of hands. I also like how it's kind of dark and mysterious.

He was involved with the Painter Georgia O'Keeffe.
This is one of her paintings I enjoy.

Brownie Camera:

A brownie camera was a simple camera that was essentially made out of cardboard and was made to be inexpensive and easy to use. It had a meniscus lens and took a 2 1/4 inch pictures on 117 roll film. It introduced the concept of snapshot. The first Brownie was introduced by February, 1900, by Eastman Kodak.  It changed Society by letting the people take the pictures, without going to the professionals. It made photography portable.

The Daguerreotype:

The daguerreotype was the first successful photographic process. The surface resembled anything the camera was pointed at. The plate kind of resembles a printing sheet. A daguerreotype is made of a silvered copper plate, which the image is on, and a housing of some sort to protect the plate. They were introduced in 1839, and stayed popular up until the 1860s. The daguerreotype replaced negatives, since it just was kind of straightforward.

Albumen Print:

An albumen print was the first good method of producing an image on paper from a negative. The main ingredient for this process was egg whites, hence the name albumen, which is found in egg whites. People stopped using this method in about 1885.

Stereographs:

A stereograph is a set of two pictures, one next to the other, producing 3D images. When viewed by a stereoscope. They were popular in the 1950s.

Carte De Viste:

A carte de viste is a small type of photo, smaller than today's business cards. They were mainly used for trading and giving, and were really popular.

Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner:

Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner were photographers back in the 1800s. They are notable for their photographs that they took during the civil war. Gardner also took a few photos of President Abraham Lincoln. They began working with each other in 1856, and worked until about the end of 1862.
