Reflections

Reflections on a semester:

1.) What did you learn about photography that you did not know before?
I learned in this class about shutter speed and the aperture and how these play an important role in your photos. I learned how film was done, and the process of it can take some time and patience.

2.) What did you learn about yourself in this semester?
I learned about myself that it does not matter what kind of fancy camera you have, but on the person behind it. How the person places him/herself and the extent of effort and work they are willing to put out to take a good shot. I also learned about myself that I need to be more patient with things and not freak out if a photo doesn't turn out how I want it to.

3.) What do you wish we had done that we did not?
I wish that we could have done some more film work possibly, and learn how to make those photos a bit better. Also, maybe a little bit more work on light writing too. I would have liked to know how to take those more clearly.

4.) What was your struggle?
My struggle was going out to find a good quality place to shoot photos. With natural light, and not the lighting in the house, which makes the photo turn out yellowish. (It's hard when it's constantly raining though.) Another struggle was getting my camera to cooperate.

5.) What did you conquer?
I conquered my eyes with seeing things. Instead of just seeing an object, I see the objects shading, and the way that it's placed, and if I were to take a picture, how nice would it turn out and how would I take it. I saw the beauty in things, than just the bland outside that most people just see and they skip the beauty and they don't realize.

Extra credit: Playing with light

Lighting

Direct Lighting

Silhouette:
(I tried)

I observed that doing silhouettes are a lot harder than direct light, since direct light is pretty much everywhere. Silhouettes were a lot easier to do though with trees. I learned to just work with the light and my camera a bit to get my desired results.
